What to live in Sarajevo
What to live in Sarajevo
I’ve began writing “what to see in Sarajevo” but then I thought that, differently from others capitals cities, that list will encourage nobody going there.
But I’m SURE that all persons who will read this post, will purpose to themselves to see it, at least once in their lives.
And this is the best things you can do.
Sarajevo is not a very turistic city yet and I hope this situation will not change but it’s impossible.
Sarajevo welcomes us with the rain and with the navigatore that cannot find the adress of the apartmant.
NOBODY talks English.
Every single person who has seen us stopped under the rain going crazy on the map, even if we don’t say a word,
come coloser hepling us.
No, it was not fortuity.
It was not beacause the same thing has happened in the hotel.
And at the restaurant when the waitress couldn’t understand us and an old man that talked a little English stopped eating to help us.
The same happened when we could not communicate with the bus-driver and someone, with hands signs, said thet it was the bus for the center of the city and we can go on it, but not stand up.
And when we’ve remained blocked on a mountain’s road because of a farmer’s protest and one of them, understanding only “Budapest” convinced the police to let us go and he showed us a dirt patch to pass the human chain.
Thing to live in Sarajevo number 1: LOVE.
The second suggestion is: don’t stop at appearance.
Don’t look only at the shops in the main street, don’t eat only in”beautiful” place.
It doesn’t have sense.
We ate in a place rather orrible, in front of a wonderful place that cooked the same “burek” a meat or vegetables pie made with fillo paste.
Our “buregdzinga” cooked under cinder, as the tradition say. The wonderful one doesn’t.
The bad one cooked also a special beef stew (the best I’ve never ate). The good one doesn’t.
They give me yogurt to drink because they drink yogurt with burek.
in our restaurant there were only some local people. In the wonderful one only turists.
We took: 2 burek, 1 beef stew, bread, yogurt and a bottle of water.
For 10 euros.
In front of us a “menu” with 1 burek and 1 drink costed 15 euros.
We’ve lost words…
Thing to live in Sarajevo number 2: ESSENCE (and not appearance).
The last thing you’ll discover in Sarajevo is the difference between humans and others living beings:
all the others kill only to survive.
There aren’t many words…the pictures you’ll find in our facebook page talk themselves.
We can only say that in Sarajevo you’ll find tombs everywhere because cemeteries were not enough.
Especially childrens’ parks are full of them because during the war they were useless.
The snipers tried to shot children above all because they know that someone would try to help them, becoming an easy target.
Life won versus horror and today flows like a river through tombs, Sarajevo’s roses and bombarded houses.
As black, when is near white, make it more bright, this contrast makes the city full of life more then all the others.
Thing to live in Sarajevo number 3: LIFE SHINING.
