Is Prague the most romantic european city?
Is Prague the most romantic european city?
To my dear friend Luigi,
I will feel you every time
I’ll walk through
Charles Bridge.
I chose with big attention the city for our last holiday befor our wedding day (yes guys! The big day is really near!):
Prague was really the best choice.
In spite of cold, snow and in spite of the fact that for me was the third time there, this fairy city knows how to take my heart every time.
But Prague is really the most romantic european city?
My answer at the end of this post 🙂
Carlhes Bridge
It’s a magic place, in every season.
See it covered by the snow is breathtaking, the statues look like angels, wonderful shadows in the snow.
We stopped on the bridge looking at the pedestrians.
They walked slowly avoiding slips.
A white, fairy, slow, world.
We knew that we weren’t dreaming only with the first tumbles!
The Townhall Square and the astronomical clock
The Starbucks’ door next to the clock, hot coffee, more or less 6 pm o’ clock.
In the dark, the clock shine to make happy the tourists waiting for its show, as every hour.
A surreal silence broken by a street artist playing his violin.
The snow.
A perfect, unforgettable moment.
(here is a 360° view of the square)
The library and the astronomical observatory
Prague hosts, in the Klementinum, one of the best library of the world.
This wonder is a chance you can’t loose.
Visits start every 30 minutes from 10 am to 4:30 pm, a guide will drive your tour tellin’ Jesuits’ stories and showing ancient instruments made to study planets’ motion.
The first stop is the Chapel of mirrors, a marble hall full of mirrors that today is a concerts hall.
We where very lucky because the group of tourist was small and when the guide opened the door of library, a big “ooooooooh” filled up the room.
No words. You must see it.
The last stop of the tour is a balcony used to observe planets, now it donate an incredible 360° view of the city (I tried to make a video, but there was a lot of ice and it’s not perfect).
The castle of Prague and the Golden street
Maybe for the snow, for the unbelievable view at the exit of the castle or for the change of the guard with the fanfare (it takes place at 12 o’clock every day).
But since we entered in St. Vitus Cathedral we felt like we were catapulted in another world.
If you’ve seen the Sacre Coeur Church in Montmarte, you will inevitably think about it, and St. Vitus Cathedral looks like she is still alive.
Even now there is the noise of scrap iron coming back from the battle, the parfume of soup in the fire of little houses in the golden street, the big dresses of women dancing in the caste’s hall.
Everything is still alive between those empty walls.
The recreation of home furnishings in the little houses take the tourists in the atmosphere of that old time.
So, if Pasquale didn’t ask me to marry him next to our christmas tree, Prague gave him unlimited moments to make it.
Is Prague the most romantic city of the world?
For the emotion on Charles Bridge, for the kiss in the castle’s hall, for the photos on the astronomical observatory, for the moment in wich heart beats quickly when, in the silence and under the snow, the clock starts to peal.
For all those things and a lot of other emotions: YES:
It is.
Praga left a big sign in our hearts.
A big thank you to this wonderful city.
